The Bluebird Theatre Company
Today the boys and girls sat down to watch a wonderful performance from the Bluebird Theatre company. The theme was based on finding courage and strength from within which ties in so well with the theme of “Myself” and “Self Confidence” in the SPHE curriculum.
Irish Dancing
All pupils will be taking part in Irish dancing lessons for 6 weeks with Rosemarie. This will take place every Tuesday in the hall and the children can wear their PE gear.
Maths Week
We have some thriving mathematicians here in Ahiohill National school. Here are some examples of the fun maths week activities from each of the classrooms.
Lir Quartet
What an afternoon we had with The Lir Quartet. The quartet played a number of instruments from the string family and the children were given the opportunity to listen to and learn about the Cello, the Violin and the Viola. They had great fun responding to music through art, singing and composing. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
GAA 5 STAR CENTRE
Ahiohill National School is taking part in a GAA initiative to become a 5 star centre. This takes place over 26 weeks and aims to support and recognise primary schools that provide pupils with Gaelic Games activities, ensuring the children will experience fun, friendship, fairness and ultimately improve their fitness. Paudie Crowley, Games Development Administrator for West Cork, will be assisting us in achieving this 5 star title.
Further details about this program can be found on https://learning.gaa.ie/5Star

Reuse - give paper, cardboard and plastics a second life by using them for Art and writing.
Recycle - ensuring paper, plastic and cardboard are being put into our recycling bins.
Reduce our waste by thinking twice and introducing a compost bin.
They are doing a great job in ensuring everybody is reusing and recycling and composting!
